Marilyn Castillo (musician)
Marilyn was born and raised on the border of El Paso, TX and Ciudad Juárez, México. She was the first student of the University of Texas at El Paso to graduate with a Bachelors degree in Commercial Music with a focus in voice. Marilyn participated in the “Festival Internacional JAZZUV” (2009-2011) at the University of Veracruz, México as a guest artist and as a translator for master classes including for Grace Kelly and Gretchen Parlato. In 2014 she moved to NYC to further her voice studies with flamenco singer Ismael de la Rosa and with Ilana Martin (2015-2017). With her singing, Marilyn has shared the stage with Bobby Cruz, Richie Ray, Arturo Ortíz, and Grammy winners Flor de Toloache. She joined the New York Mariachi Academy (2016) as a voice teacher and teaches Spanish through music to children through El Taller Latinoamericano. Currently she is the lead singer and song writer of Adderesound, a Mexican fusion band she initiated in México in 2011 with Rudyck Vidal and whose second album is now being produced in NY. Marilyn is also currently working on her first solo album.
